Terms of use

SupportPrep is an independent training simulator built and maintained by James Gogolak. It is not a real crisis line, not affiliated with any organization, and nothing you do here reaches anyone who actually needs help. By using SupportPrep, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

You must be at least 13 years old to create a SupportPrep account. You are responsible for the username and password you use to sign in, and for anything that happens under your account. Use accurate information when you sign up, and let us know if you think your account has been accessed by someone else.

Every character you talk to is an AI playing a role for training purposes, not a real person. Please engage with these scenarios the way you would with a real help-seeker: with patience and respect. Messages that are hostile, mocking, or that cross a real boundary will end a conversation automatically and fail it, as explained on the How It Works page.

Do not use SupportPrep to try to break, exploit, or extract the underlying system, to harass or abuse the service, or for anything illegal.

The persona replies and feedback reports you receive are generated by AI and can be imperfect, imprecise, or occasionally get something wrong. Feedback is meant to help you practice and reflect, not as a certification, a clinical assessment, or a substitute for real supervised training.

Anyone can create a training group and become its supervisor, there's no separate approval process. If you choose to join an organization, whether by accepting an emailed invite or entering a join code, an explicit notice is shown first explaining what that means. From the moment you join onward, that group's supervisor can see your practice conversation transcripts, feedback reports, and progress, and can leave comments on your reports. Conversations from before you joined are never shared, and a supervisor never sees your password or account settings. You can leave a group at any time from the Training Group page in the sidebar; leaving doesn't delete any of your own history. Creating a group, sending invites, and generating a join code are all free.

Supervisors are responsible for how they use the information their group gives them access to, and for getting any consent their own organization or context requires beyond what SupportPrep itself shows trainees before they join.

SupportPrep is a practice space for building peer support skills, nothing more. If you or someone you know is struggling right now, this is not the right place for that. In the US, you can call or text 988 any time to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

SupportPrep is provided as is, as a personal project, with no guarantee that it will always be available, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose. It is offered to the fullest extent permitted by law without warranties of any kind, and the creator is not liable for any damages arising from your use of it.

These terms may be updated as SupportPrep changes. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the new terms. Check back here if you want to see the current version.
